IPTPA Level 1 Certified Instructor

Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, Emer has lived in Maryland since 1995.
A lifelong, multi-sport athlete, she discovered Pickleball in the fall of 2016,
immediately developing an obsession for the sport. In the subsequent
years, Emer has spent every spare moment playing, drilling, competing in
tournaments, and teaching.
 
Emer became an IPTPA Level 1 Certified Instructor in September 2018 and
a Montgomery County Pickleball Ambassador in February 2019. She
qualified to compete in Mixed Doubles and Singles at the 2020 USA
Pickleball National Championships at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden,
which was unfortunately cancelled due to Covid. After the tournament
break, she medaled in three events at her first U.S. Open in the Spring of
2022. Emer continues to compete actively in regional and national
tournaments at the 4.5 – 5.0 level, with an eye on the Senior Pro division in
2023.

When not on the court, Emer administers both the MoCoPickleball and
DMV Pickleball Facebook groups, and advocates tirelessly to local
municipalities on behalf of the burgeoning community of local players.
These efforts have helped yield new courts in Olney, Rockville, and
elsewhere.

After two years of running clinics and classes for Montgomery County and
four years for the city of Rockville, Emer now offers private lessons, and is
the Pro at Westleigh Country Club where she regularly runs ladder
leagues and various events. While “personal improvement” is a goal, her
classes, clinics, leagues, and social play events always emphasize FUN as
a core element, and this has been the catalyst in their ever-growing
popularity.
